The eggs are very small, so pay close attention. Without any icons to indicate where the eggs are (there can be up to 28), you could be flying around for an hour trying to find some of them. The onboard map is useless for spotting eggs, too. If you miss or drop an egg, you have to circle around and try to grab it again while playing bumper cars with the scenery. There is a neutral button to stabilize yourself, but with trees, branches and cannons everywhere, it's just too easy to repeatedly bump into things. I didn't like almost always being in motion. Even with the extra speed, though, flying seems a bit sluggish. Thrust increases your flight speed, which is good for getting out of tight spots in a hurry. Replenish it by seeking out shield icons. You have just three lives per level, but extra live icons are hidden in each stage.įlying into objects kills you instantly, but you do have a temporary shield to protect against incoming fire. Sometimes my fire button would get stuck and when I picked up an icon, it would fire all of the shots automatically. Frag grenades, bombs, and heat-seeking missiles compliment your arsenal.Ī default sonic scream is available if you run out of other weapons. You start with only twenty shots of your blaster weapon, but you can pick up other weapons by flying into icons scattered throughout the level. You have numerous weapons at your disposal. So, once you have an egg, you better fly to the nearest wormhole so the egg is banked.

The soundtrack features previously unreleased tracks from Nanosaur, Jay Casio and Reitzell, as well as two dialogue interludes set to lyrics from Notorious B.I.G.'s 1993 single "Party and Bullshit" and tracks by Wu-Tang Clan, Charles Bradley, RJD2 and Mac Dre.It does drop them if you're hit by laser fire or other dinos, or if you scrape along the ground. "I think that when you do that, the music as a whole - both songs and score - make for a more immersive/connective experience." The connection is evident in the beat-heavy track, "606 In The 510," from Reitzell's score. "We wanted the score to connect with the source music sonically," added Reitzell. He was nominated for a BAFTA for the score of the film Lost in Translation. "I always knew I wanted to weave an eclectic soundtrack together that intertwined hip-hop and sweeping score to reflect the Bay Area sound, as well as the world inside the characters' imagination," said Tipping in a statement.Ĭomposer Brian Reitzell from the Bay Area is notable for his soundtracks on the The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation, Marie Antoinette, The Bling Ring and as a drummer for the French electronica duo Air. The director intentionally derived local artists, including Roach Gigz, Dave Steezy, and NanosauR, as well as the late Dre and Iamsu! from the San Fransisco Bay Area where the film is set.

Brandon goes on a mission to retrieve his stolen sneakers. Working hard to get them, he soon finds that the titular shoes have instead made him a target after they are promptly snatched by Flaco, a local hood. Assuming that merely having them on his feet will help him escape the reality of being poor, neglected by the opposite sex and picked on by everyone - even his best friends. Itis the story of a fifteen-year-old Brandon longing for a pair of the freshest sneakers that money can buy. In director Justin Tipping's feature debut Kicks, nothing is as simple as it seems.
